april 2024 recap: kentucky eclipse + texas trip
happy mid-may! coming in hot later than usual this time because my texas trip was extended and bled into may, and i’ve been busy working and settling back into a routine. but here we go!
one of the most notable april moments was driving from nashville to paducah, kentucky to see the eclipse in totality with my friend kevan… except we didn’t realize traffic was going to be so bad. after 4 hours we made it 1.5 hours up the interstate and wound up on the side of the road… 30 minutes away from totality. luckily, we had both seen totality in 2017 and had a good laugh about it. it was still very cool. and then we got delish mexican food.

burgies, rock and roll, 420 pizza night, interstate eclipsin’
throughout april, i mostly worked and spent time investing in my relationships. i have been cooking more often. putting on music i love and chopping veggies is one of my favorite ways to spend my time and it’s where i feel most grounded so i’ve been taking advantage of that inspiration. life update: i transitioned to pescatarian a few weeks ago. i eat mostly plant based already, so the major difference will be incorporating different types of fish into my diet to get some variety.

stuffed peps, tofu grain bowl, bean quesadilla, TLAT (tempeh lettuce avo tomato)
my final week of april was spent in texas. it was my first time visiting and i was all over the place. i flew into dallas to see james first. and became a gf 🥲 one of my favorite days. from there we drove to austin to pass me off to my brother. we ate dinner at velvet taco. iykyk. i ended the night at a hovvdy album release show which just so happened to fall on the day i was there. feeling very grateful for all of it.

dallas and austin with my favorite people
from austin, i headed west with devin, his gf carolyn, her sister dylan + gf mercedes who were also visiting. devin and carolyn live in fort stockton, where my brother handles operations for a bitcoin mine. we got to tour the facility which was bonkers. still not sure how to explain what’s happening in there.

fort stockton moments
we spent two days out in terlingua exploring big bend. absolutely stunning. devin got us a sick airbnb with a fire pit and hammocks that overlooked a ton of yurts. he also brought his four wheeler so we took a midnight ride to the top of a mountain and danced under the stars together. a surreal moment that became a core memory for me.

me and dev, nature is neat
a couple days later we drove to san angelo where we brought the boat and enjoyed a nice lake day. i can’t remember the last time i was even on a boat. i also TUBED for the first time and had a pretty good wipeout. 10/10 time.

oddly enough i don’t think i watched anything or read any books in april. i listened to 69.5 hours of music though. nice. thanks airbuds.
