february 2024 recap: new york, canada and nashville!
february was a loaded month. i spent the first half of it finishing up my stay at my airbnb in buffalo, new york. during that time, i crossed the border to visit canada on 3 different occasions. my friend josh and i visited toronto, i went to hamilton one day to do a coffee crawl and i drove into st. catharines for a show.
annnnd to everyone’s surprise i signed a lease for a new apartment in nashville! i found a complex offering 2 months free which gives me some space to figure out my next move and get settled in here. i wasn’t quite ready to cut my travel era short, but there are a lot of things to look forward to here in nashville and i’m truly loving being back in my own space with all my things. my apartment is right on the greenway so i’ve been taking long walks daily. it’s my favorite part about my new place.
on my drive to nashville, i stopped in cincinnati, ohio and stayed with my pal mark to break up the drive. we also hung out with my friend libby, who i have been internet friends with since… 2011?! it was so lovely to finally meet her. we ate delish burgs and sat in a hangy swing by the water downtown (with mark’s lil pup billie) and it was a cute evening.
traveling has been such a gift and growing experience for me. in the last 5 months, i’ve been to 11 states and crossed the canadian border 4x. i’ve wandered around countless cities by myself, spent many hours in the woods immersed in nature and struck up multiple conversations with strangers that i’ve crossed paths with. because of that, my personal confidence has grown. my travels have definitely widened my perspective and made me more well rounded. i feel more in touch with myself and for that, i’m so grateful.

canada, new york, ohio & nashville hangs :)
media i consumed

movies
fantastic fungi - watched this documentary on mushrooms on netflix and holy heck, mushrooms are just so cool. did you know there are some mushrooms that glow in the dark!? currently growing my own oyster mushrooms on my windowsill and keeping an eye peeled for foraging opportunities while i’m hiking. it’s been a blast learning more about them.
shows
like so many others, i watched the new season of love is blind because how could i not? this show is just so intriguing and I want the TEA. i’m all caught up but we get the final episodes on march 6… who else is watching? who do we think is gonna get married 👀
books
a creative act by rick rubin - this book has been inspiring all the way through. i am listening to the audiobook but i really want a physical copy because there is so much that i want to highlight and come back to. for anyone looking for inspiration and new creative exercises to stimulate you, i would definitely recommend this book.
concerts/music
i saw single mothers in st. catharines, ontario & pale lungs in nashville. i got a special shoutout at the single mothers show since i was visiting from so far away, which i wasn’t expecting so that was special. the pale lungs show was a blast and i got to see a few of my good pals there. a perfect first show back in nash :)
here is a playlist with my top 10 songs for february 🎶
march intentions
focus on eating more in season produce and getting it from the farmer’s market - i’m especially excited about fresh arugula and trying out a new recipe with leeks
figure out what path to take as far as my career goes & apply for new roles that align with that
spend as much time outside as always. looking forward to warmer weather and longer days - daylight savings is in 1 week ☀️

i tried out kodak gold 200 for the first time last month and this might be my new favorite film stock
life hacks and misc
reminder that you can borrow things from your library other than books. for example, nashville’s library of things includes tools, musical instruments and art supplies, just to name a few.
if you’re looking to make extra cash, check out local studies in your area. i’ve been participating in a vanderbilt covid study for the last year+ and i have received over $1000 in amazon gift cards over that time which i’ve used to furnish my apartments, stock up on supplements, and fund anything else i’ve needed. i’ve participated in other studies that resulted in gift card compensation as well. check out sago. they’re in several cities and they’re who i’ve done multiple studies with.

as always, if you’ve read this whole newsletter, you’re the best. thanks for being my pal and being invested in what i have going on. i hope your march is filled with abundance and lots of sunshine.
live laugh love.
