holy macaroni, march flew by in the blink of an eye. looking back, it’s wild how much got packed into one calendar month.

at the beginning of the month, i moved my mom from tennessee back down to georgia (where i’m from) to live with her mom. i’m sad to be further away from her, but they are both dealing with some health stuff and it’s better that they have each other around to lean on for the time being. i def made my mom stop at bucee’s along the way. she wasn’t really sure what to think tbh. the move went smoothly, and i got some quality time with both her and my grandma. it also gave me the opportunity to visit my dad’s grave, which i hadn’t been to in about 5 years. i didn’t expect to cry but i did and it was therapeutic. i brought reese’s (his fave) and played him a song by a band i thought he’d dig. it was special.

i made a last minute decision to drive from south georgia to st pete, florida to surprise one of my best friends, celeste. i reached out to one of their florida besties and we conspired The Big Bamboozle™️. oh, they were BAMBOOZLED. we next few days were full of quality time full of so many of our favorite things. one of the most notable things being that we came across 4 manatees in the bay one day which is apparently super rare. what a treat. that trip was just what my heart needed that week and i’m so glad i drove down.

i clocked many hours with friends this month and that has been fantastic. i was introduced to new acquaintances earlier in the month who have now become some of my favorite people and part of my inner circle. i’ve been working a lot. i’m still primarily delivering groceries to clients i’ve had for years, and they tip me well. i’m grateful for that. it’s nice working on my own schedule.

i finally ordered a GUITAR. i’ve been thinking about it for months. my friend christian is going to give me some lessons and i’ll utilize other resources where i can. i’ll update with progress next month. let this be a reminder that you can start a new hobby at any age. don’t be afraid to be a beginner. everyone is at some point.

towards the end of april i’ll be going to texas for the first time! my brother moved out there a couple years ago, and at this point i haven’t seen him in about a year and a half. he booked a flight for me and we have lots of adventures lined up. i’m flying into austin first, so any recs there are welcome!

school of rock: watched this at a friend’s house with a group of homies. 10/10 recommend, good viewing and laughter experience. i hadn’t seen this movie in years but it held up well. i love rock and roll.

books

how to make it in the new music business by ari herstand: i started this one via audiobook as i was waiting for it to arrive in the mail. i’ve been wanting to learn more about the business side of the music industry and seeing if there’s a place where i think i could fit and be happy. i’ve been learning so much and it’s honestly been so fun. a friend of mine is letting me help him with his band as he’s prepping for a new release so i’m getting a look behind the scenes and helping organize, plan, research release strategies, promos, etc. i have a few more books like this stacked up on my table for april.

fox & i: an uncommon friendship by catherine raven: i started this one but haven’t finished it yet. foxes are my favorite animal so this book about befriending one intrigued me. the book follows a woman living on a plot of land in montana, pursuing a phD in biology (she eventually becomes a park ranger) and the story of how little by little, she forms a bond with a wild fox. the reviews are stellar and i’m excited to keep reading.

concerts/music

a plea for purging reunion show - i definitely went to a plea show back in the day when i was like 16… but since moving to nashville and visiting the Bad Luck Burger truck, i have become pals with andy and really pretty much everyone on the truck. it was such a treat to see andy do his dang thing on stage. folks traveled in from all over, there were burgers being thrown into the crowd, and so many people went across the street afterwards and to show love to the burger boys. i walked over with an off duty burger boy and hung out there for a couple hours. long live plea and BLxBC.

runnner - saw this show at the blue room at third man records. first time there! curved walls and a big elephant on the wall. and the room was indeed blue a large portion of the time. i love runnner, and with a full band the songs were cranked up a couple notches when played live. i had a blast.

if you’re in the nashville area or visiting soon, you gottttaaa visit now and then. it’s located in sean brock’s bar continental downtown. there is complimentary valet parking. if you’re seeking an intentional and unique coffee experience, look no further. the owners, davy and demi, are absolutely fantastic and so knowledgeable. this space is inclusive and intentionally curated with so much care to detail. oh, and the coffee slaps. i got a pour over from tokyo and my pals shared japanese milk bread with me. take a friend or two and go hang out.

i almost forgot one of the weirdest parts of this month… that i got to see the breaking bad boys at one of my favorite bars in nashville. did you know aaron paul and bryan cranston are actually best buds and have their own mezcal company?! they’re the best. they popped into a few spots in town one night to promote their company. it was surreal to see them haha.
